DESIGN GUIDELINES
We do not sell or represent a particular manufacturer. We work with a range of wholesalers. The benefit for you, the client, means the best design, which incorporates the strengths and economies of many manufacturers. Our design philosophy is one of simplicity, which will minimize the equipment installed, saving upfront costs, and more importantly – the costs over time to maintain.
We believe that energy is a finite resource to be conserved. Before we begin a heating design we typically do the heat-loss calculations for your building and suggest insulation/construction practices to maximize heat conservation. No matter how efficient the heating system, the best value is the heat that does not have to be generated. Minimizing heat loss results in lower monthly utility bills but also can reduce the initial cost of the mechanical system.
With the heat-loss calculation we can determine your best energy source options and look at return on investment: Upgraded Construction vs. Energy Savings.
On our website, under the Energy Source tab, we have included at a downloadable Heating Fuel Calculator spreadsheet for your use. The spreadsheet calculates the unit heating cost ($/MMBTU’s), depending on the Energy Source; Natural Gas, Propane, Oil, Electricity, even renewables. We strive for low design temperatures to maximize the efficiencies of condensing boilers, heat pumps and even solar collectors.
Finally, it is important to us that you, our client, have a total understanding of your hydronic system. The design package will be fully detailed, from installation details, to control logic. It is our intent, to provide you with the best possible outcome for your project and having you totally involved is key to this goal. This begins with the Project Design Survey (see Terms and Conditions) as we determine your preferences and expectations.
Take some time to explore our website and links to other websites you may find of interest. And of course please contact us with your questions. We may have erred on the side of too technical, or too detailed, but we believe that the difference of a good project outcome is in the details and your understanding of the design.
